of Focus
Rotarians have continually adapted and improved the way they respond to those needs, taking on a broad range of service projects. The most successful and sustainable Rotary service tends to fall within one of the following six areas:
- Peace and conflict prevention/resolution
- Disease prevention and treatment
- Water and sanitation
- Maternal and child health
- Basic education and literacy
- Economic and community development
Our Rotary Club has actively supported provision of Diagnostic Equipment in India, Dental/Medical Fair in Guatemala, Dentures and Reading Glasses for Seniors in Mexico, Children’s Boarding School Program in Israel, and more:
Support for Ukraine
humanitarian aid donations
Over $130,000 in Medical Equipment and Supplies
– Monarch Beach Sunrise Rotary has donated five ambulances and ultrasound machines. The ambulances and supplies are being donated to emergency services in the cities of Bashtanka, Kharkiv, Kherson, Mykolaiv and Okachiv, where fighting is ongoing.
Other Resources
– The MBSR Club supplied lights for a surgical suite in a community hospital in Mykolaiv that had been bombed. The club also provided $25,000 in canned goods to the local residents.
For Ukrainian Refugee Children
– The MBSR Club has helped organize a venue in Dana Point for a Saturday school for local Ukrainian refugees, providing a place where the children can take art lessons and socialize with other children from Ukraine.
Thanksgiving
– The MBSR Club provided mothers and children with a Thanksgiving dinner, which was enjoyed on a Saturday afternoon during class time.
Dental Clinic
for Children in the Philippines
The Monarch Beach Sunrise Rotary (MBSR) Club was recognized at the district level for a Global Grant awarded for a Children’s Dental Clinic in the Philippines. Global grants are extremely difficult to obtain and it was a great honor to be awarded the grant and be recognized by the district. The dental clinic, in Bodul, is in the village’s elementary school. The MBSR club also provided sinks for the school so students could brush their teeth.
Water Well Projects
in India and Zambia
Our Rotary Club is working with the San Clemente Rotary Club and the Mission Viejo Rotary Club on Global Grants for Water Wells in Zambia and India. The Rotary Foundation Global Grants support large international activities with sustainable, measurable outcomes in Rotary’s areas of focus. By working together to respond to real community needs, clubs and districts strengthen their global partnerships. These are designed in cooperation with the community to address a real need and demonstrate how our club can leverage the resources of the Foundation to do good in the world.

– The MBSR Club supplied backpacks filled with school supplies to students who are orphans.

– The MBSR Club helped build a new roof for a medical Clinic.
