Monarch Beach Sunrise Rotary donates over $130,000 in medical equipment and supplies to Ukraine

Orange, CA, December 15, 2022 —Monarch Beach Sunrise Rotary has donated to Ukraine for humanitarian aid over $130,000 in medical equipment and medical supplies, including five ambulances and ultrasound machines.

Five Ambulances, Many Supplies

Far surpassing its goal of raising funds to purchase one ambulance, the club has purchased five ambulances, each stocked with medical staplers and staples, anticoagulants, antibiotics, and other medical supplies, as well as three ultrasound machines and refrigerators for use in the ambulances.

The club also provided lights for a surgical suite in a community hospital in Mykolaiv that had been bombed, and $25,000 in canned goods to the local residents. To purchase and deliver the ambulances and supplies, Monarch Beach Sunrise Rotary worked closely with the Unity Rotary Club in Lviv, Mykolaiv Rotary Club and Rotary Club of Munich-Bavaria, which coordinated multiple clubs in Germany. The ambulances and supplies are being donated to emergency services in the cities of Bashtanka, Kharkiv, Kherson, Mykolaiv and Okachiv, where fighting is ongoing.

The club raised the money through its Glory to Ukraine (Slava Ukraine) gala, the club’s fund-a-need project, two disaster relief grants provided by Rotary District 5320 and by donations from both the Monarch Beach Rotary Club and San Clemente Evening Rotary Club.

In addition to its efforts for support in Ukraine, the club has helped organize a venue in Dana Point for a Saturday school for local Ukrainian refugees, providing a place where the children can take art lessons and socialize with other children from Ukraine. For Thanksgiving, the club provided mothers and children with a Thanksgiving dinner, which was enjoyed on a Saturday afternoon during class time.
